If your skin is dry, steer away from powder foundation as this will only make your skin look cakey or flaky, and will emphasize your wrinkles. Stick to liquid or cream foundation. These will keep your face looking smooth and soft.
If have oily or combination skin, powder foundations are best for you and will give you that matte appearance and stop that shine. You might also consider using a foundation primer to control the oil. Touching up now and then with powder is also recommended.

Black skin can sometimes look ashen with patches of skin becoming grey and flaky. The cause of this is usually due to sudden changes in temperature, combined with low humidity. Keep your moisturiser handy and use as often as possible.
If your skin is dark and inclined to be oily, try to find masks containing mud or clay. Clay, especially, removes excess oil while it deep cleanses your pores and clears blackheads. If your hair gets oily quickly, especially in hot and humid weather, look for a shampoo that contains menthol.
